Tips on Loss of Focus or Weakness in Business

Can you recognize your weakness(es)?
I used to try to fit my day into some preconceived mold. I realized for me, a solo entrepreneur, it doesn't work. My weakness was simple. I'm the kind of person who needs freedom. It's in my freedom I am at my most productive. It took me years to discover it but once I found it it was much like a missing puzzle piece.  Life just started to make sense.

In direct sales, I had an opportunity to be mentored by the best of the best but for me it wasn't enough. The part that didn't work was I was following their recipe for success. It was inauthentic to who I am as a person. There is no cookie cutter approach to success. Yes, there are specific income producing activities that must be done first however there is no one way that works for each of us.  If your business does not produce income there is no reason to spend your time on busy work unless you enjoy being a volunteer in your own organization. You must do a return on investment weekly, monthly and yearly to access your next weeks goals & actions.

Many times it takes repeating the same activity that produced the results in the first place. If you are a free spirit like myself that can be challenging to repeat time and time again the same activities. Do you get bored? Do you chase shiny pennies? It's always more seductive to blaze new trails but at the end of the day do they produce the fruits you need to stay in business? Or better yet to grow?
Consistency can be the key! From business to fitness if you are not being consistent you are wasting your time.

There is a simple answer. It is to create balance between income producing activity and trail blazing new activities for your own personal recipe to success. First you fuel your business with the necessary income then you are free to explore new activities. Define your weakness. If it is something you need to master and just can't seem to, then a great idea is to delegate. Find who is best at it and pass the activity on. You will be less likely to wonder off your trail to success when you are not  frustrated into doing things you simply do not want to do.

It is in defining your weakness(es) you will find your strength.

Perception

What do you see? After some recent fun on Facebook it got me thinking PERCEPTION is everything. It was a Saturday night and I had just finished a glass of some really good wine. Sad to see I was almost empty but unwilling to invest in the calories of a second glass, I snapped a quick pic and posted it. What do you see? The answers ranged from my eyeball, a glass half full, glass half empty to a breast implant, air plane toilet, sink drain and Baptismal font!

It got me thinking ~ perception is everything. Especially in life. Ever wonder why the person who has more challenges seems to wonder through life in gratitude and the person who has so much is often found complaining? Perception.  It is time for a quick check for yourself. How do you see life? Your relationships? Your business(es)? Your family? Yourself?

I am reminded of a story I have heard several times. Twins were separated and put into two different rooms filled with horse manure. The first one was horrified by the smell, the look and the large pile in the center of the room. Crying she was removed instantly.

The 2nd twin ran right up the pile and started digging immediately. She was screaming for joy, digging furiously into the pile flinging it everywhere!!! The observers where shocked at her joy. They had to ask " It smells disgusting, why are you so happy?" In which she gleefully replied " with all this horse poop in here there must be a pony somewhere!"

What is your perception? Are you joyfully experiencing the journey of your life or are you going through just making the motions? Life is your to live and each day that passes we are one step closer to eternity. Live full out and find your pony!!! You might have to go through some crap but keep digging. It's in there somewhere.

Own Your Strong!

5 + years ago I began my fitness journey. Some 41 pounds over weight and not an ounce of muscle tone. I was a survivor who hated the body she was left with after enduring cancer. I was a victim more then I was a survivor. Cancer still had a hold on me. Sure I pretended that I was fine, even great but it was all smoke and mirrors. I had a smile on my face but my spirit was sleeping somewhere cold.

It didn't make sense to me. Why wasn't I grateful? Instead I was sad inside a body that was no longer mine.  Then one day I realized the only thing I could control was me. So that day I made a decision to take back me. It took time, energy and hard effort. Looking back I can tell you it was the best decision I had ever made.

You see it takes the same amount of energy to be miserable as it does to be happy!

What is your strong?  What do you want? Do you even know?

The one lesson I learned for sure was the only thing I could never get back was time. Cancer took my forties from me. It took my hair and my body but I didn't have to let it take my heart.

That was the day I decided to OWN MY STRONG!

Life is joyful now. Not without obstacles but  joyful. I'm in control.
