Tips on Loss of Focus or Weakness in Business

Can you recognize your weakness(es)?
I used to try to fit my day into some preconceived mold. I realized for me, a solo entrepreneur, it doesn't work. My weakness was simple. I'm the kind of person who needs freedom. It's in my freedom I am at my most productive. It took me years to discover it but once I found it it was much like a missing puzzle piece.  Life just started to make sense.

In direct sales, I had an opportunity to be mentored by the best of the best but for me it wasn't enough. The part that didn't work was I was following their recipe for success. It was inauthentic to who I am as a person. There is no cookie cutter approach to success. Yes, there are specific income producing activities that must be done first however there is no one way that works for each of us.  If your business does not produce income there is no reason to spend your time on busy work unless you enjoy being a volunteer in your own organization. You must do a return on investment weekly, monthly and yearly to access your next weeks goals & actions.

Many times it takes repeating the same activity that produced the results in the first place. If you are a free spirit like myself that can be challenging to repeat time and time again the same activities. Do you get bored? Do you chase shiny pennies? It's always more seductive to blaze new trails but at the end of the day do they produce the fruits you need to stay in business? Or better yet to grow?
Consistency can be the key! From business to fitness if you are not being consistent you are wasting your time.

There is a simple answer. It is to create balance between income producing activity and trail blazing new activities for your own personal recipe to success. First you fuel your business with the necessary income then you are free to explore new activities. Define your weakness. If it is something you need to master and just can't seem to, then a great idea is to delegate. Find who is best at it and pass the activity on. You will be less likely to wonder off your trail to success when you are not  frustrated into doing things you simply do not want to do.

It is in defining your weakness(es) you will find your strength.

Perception

What do you see? After some recent fun on Facebook it got me thinking PERCEPTION is everything. It was a Saturday night and I had just finished a glass of some really good wine. Sad to see I was almost empty but unwilling to invest in the calories of a second glass, I snapped a quick pic and posted it. What do you see? The answers ranged from my eyeball, a glass half full, glass half empty to a breast implant, air plane toilet, sink drain and Baptismal font!

It got me thinking ~ perception is everything. Especially in life. Ever wonder why the person who has more challenges seems to wonder through life in gratitude and the person who has so much is often found complaining? Perception.  It is time for a quick check for yourself. How do you see life? Your relationships? Your business(es)? Your family? Yourself?

I am reminded of a story I have heard several times. Twins were separated and put into two different rooms filled with horse manure. The first one was horrified by the smell, the look and the large pile in the center of the room. Crying she was removed instantly.

The 2nd twin ran right up the pile and started digging immediately. She was screaming for joy, digging furiously into the pile flinging it everywhere!!! The observers where shocked at her joy. They had to ask " It smells disgusting, why are you so happy?" In which she gleefully replied " with all this horse poop in here there must be a pony somewhere!"

What is your perception? Are you joyfully experiencing the journey of your life or are you going through just making the motions? Life is your to live and each day that passes we are one step closer to eternity. Live full out and find your pony!!! You might have to go through some crap but keep digging. It's in there somewhere.

Own Your Strong!

5 + years ago I began my fitness journey. Some 41 pounds over weight and not an ounce of muscle tone. I was a survivor who hated the body she was left with after enduring cancer. I was a victim more then I was a survivor. Cancer still had a hold on me. Sure I pretended that I was fine, even great but it was all smoke and mirrors. I had a smile on my face but my spirit was sleeping somewhere cold.

It didn't make sense to me. Why wasn't I grateful? Instead I was sad inside a body that was no longer mine.  Then one day I realized the only thing I could control was me. So that day I made a decision to take back me. It took time, energy and hard effort. Looking back I can tell you it was the best decision I had ever made.

You see it takes the same amount of energy to be miserable as it does to be happy!

What is your strong?  What do you want? Do you even know?

The one lesson I learned for sure was the only thing I could never get back was time. Cancer took my forties from me. It took my hair and my body but I didn't have to let it take my heart.

That was the day I decided to OWN MY STRONG!

Life is joyful now. Not without obstacles but  joyful. I'm in control.

Waiting for your ship to come in?

We always think there is a better time to achieve our goals: get fit, get in a relationship, get out of a relationship, when the kids grow up, when we have kids blah, when we have money blah blah
Truth is each day we live the closer we are to eternity! Not to be depressing but where are you spending your day? Is it getting you closer to your dreams? Then why are you wasting precious time on it?

So many go on with their music unsung. Cliche - I know but truth is if what we are doing right now isn't getting us closer to our goal then in reality we are saying we are not ready to achieve our goal.

Challenges are going to come and challenges are going to go. That is part of life. Rather then waiting for your ship to come in, why not jump into the water and go after it?

What are you waiting for? Go ahead... go for it!

Over tweezed, Under glammed? Wow brows are easy to obtain.

While many people think of hair loss as primarily impacting the scalp, one of the other visible areas of hair loss for many patients is the loss of the eyebrows. Both during chemotherapy and certain medical conditions such as frontal fibrosing alopecia, eyebrow loss can be a problem that many patients don’t expect, and don’t immediately know how to address.
Fortunately, bondable natural eyebrows are a great solution for those who have lost their brows. Each individual natural human hair is individually injected into a thin, transparent polyurethane base, providing a durable and natural eyebrow solution.
Bondable natural eyebrows come in multiple arch shapes, and variety of color options, so the patient can find a natural looking replacement for their original eyebrows. Attached with a water-based glue, each eyebrow will stay in place for 3-4 days, and will last for 3-4 months of regular use. Because the bondable eyebrows are glued to the skin, this is a non-surgical solution – it requires no transplanting, no skin grafting, and absolutely no cutting of any kind. It is a safe, easy, and painless solution to thinning eyebrows.
While brow thinning during chemotherapy is generally temporary, brow thinning with frontal fibrosing alopecia is typically permanent. However, bondable natural eyebrows are a great solution for either temporary or permanent brow loss – they are durable enough to be cost effective for long term use, but they’re a great temporary solution for chemotherapy patients who can expect their natural eyebrows to regrow following treatment.
If you’re interested in bondable natural eyebrows to match your wig, top piece, or even your natural hair, contact Alternative Hair Solutions today for more information.

When Goals are Forgotten : 4 steps to get back on track - Jack Canfield

When Goals are Forgotten: 4 Steps to Get Back on Track

compassMost people start pursuing their goals – especially New Year’s resolutions – with great passion. But over time, they lose momentum, burn out and put their dreams aside.
If this happens to you, it’s a clear-cut sign that your goals are not sustainable. In this article, you’ll discover how to get back on track toward your goals – and accelerate your momentum.
1. Evaluate Your Motivation
If you’ve lost momentum toward your goals, the first thing to do is verify your commitment. A lot of our goals tend to be “should’s” rather than deep “want to’s.” But I’ve discovered that without a burning desire to achieve a goal, your motivation wanes quickly, and your subconscious mind turns its attention to more exciting desires.
For example, many people set New Year’s resolutions to lose weight – a goal that often falls into the “should” category. We feel like should lose weight because it will make us healthier, reduce stress on our joints, and make us feel more confident and attractive. Unfortunately, these benefits are typically not compelling enough to motivate us to keep our commitment to lose the extra pounds.
However, if you find out that a new baby will soon join your family, your “why” suddenly becomes bigger. Now you’re motivated to lose weight because doing so will increase the odds that you’ll be around to watch that baby grow into adulthood.
Pull out your list of goals, and for each one, ask, “What is my why? Why do I want to achieve this? And am I committed enough to my why to do whatever it takes to achieve this goal?” By identifying or even upgrading your “why,” you can tap into greater motivation and commitment to achieve your goal.
2. Create an Action Plan
Once you’ve confirmed that your goals are things you truly want to achieve, the next thing to do is to create an action plan.
One by one, break each of your goals down. Get clear on what would really be required to achieve each goal. Realistically assess how many hours it would take each week or day to achieve the goal.
Next, start scheduling all of the activities that are required to achieve your various goals. (Note: If you don’t know all of the steps to achieve them, just list the ones that you are aware of for the purposes of this exercise; the rest of the steps will unfold once you begin taking action.)
Once you start scheduling key activities into your calendars, many of us begin to realize that there’s not enough time in our schedules to accomplish everything we want to do. If this is the case for you, go back and prioritize your goals. Which goals matter the most to you? Do any of your goals need to achieved before you can start working on another goal?
3. Declare Your Intentions
When you’re clear about which goals you’ll work on, you can increase your commitment by publicly declaring your intentions. Share your goals with the people in your life – the more, the better. You’ll be more likely to take action toward achieving your goals when the alternative is losing face with people about whom you care.
If the threat of public humiliation isn’t enough, you also can incorporate a negative consequence. Find something that will be painful for you to do, and publicly commit to enduring the consequence if you don’t achieve your goal.
Some people are more motivated by rewards than punishments. If this describes you, find a reward that you’ll receive upon completion of your goal. This could be anything from a vacation to buying the car you want or something more simple, such as treating yourself to a new outfit, Louis Vuitton bag or a massage. Rewards are powerful for motivating your inner child.
4. Creating Accountability
Most of us find it easy to let ourselves off the hook. We can quickly justify why we haven’t followed through on our commitment to take action on any particular day, just as we can easily make excuses about why we miss our targets completely.
If you find yourself frequently slipping into these habits, an accountability partner will be a huge benefit to you. In fact, I believe so strongly in accountability partners that  participants at my annual Breakthrough to Success training  pair up with another attendee as their accountability partner before they leave.
Accountability partnerships work as follows: Each morning, you hold a 5-minute phone call during which you each share what you’re committing to do that day. For example, you could share your “Rule of 5,” in which you commit to doing 5 things to move you toward your biggest goal. (Tip: Use my Top 5 Priority Action Post-It notes to keep your commitment front and center.)
The next morning, you report on your progress from the previous day and share what you’ll accomplish in the coming 24-hour period. Knowing that your partner will be asking you whether you upheld your commitments the day before can be a powerful motivator for getting tasks completed.
A proven twist on accountability partnerships is working toward your goal with another person. For example, I meditate with my wife every morning. We hold each other accountable. If I sleep in too late, I can count on Inga to wake me up and say, “Come on, we’re meditating now.”
If you find that having a friend or colleague serve as your accountability partner is not enough, consider hiring a professional, such as a coach or trainer. These individuals may be better equipped to recognize self-sabotaging behaviors and beliefs – as well as to hold you accountable for taking action. And if you’re someone who hates to waste money, knowing that you’re paying someone to hold you accountable might be the added motivation you need to keep your commitments.
Get Back on Track – Starting TODAY!
It’s normal to veer off course when pursuing goals. Sometimes this happens because we’re not truly committed to our goals. Other times, it’s because we struggle to hold ourselves accountable for doing the necessary work. Use the tips in this article to get yourself back on track in making steady progress in turning your dreams into a reality.

Is this you?

Is this you?
You are a smart, capable, caring person. You have something big you want to do in the world. Something you are yearning to bring forth… Even if you don't even know exactly what it is.
You have a beautiful, strong intention. You have integrity. You have the capability.
And you are still not getting the results.
You are still trying to write that book. You are still trying to move your business to the next level. You are still trying to hold on to yourself in relationship. You are still broke or in debt. You are still trying to lose weight and get healthy. You are still feeling disconnected and unclear. It's like there's something in the way. Almost like a glass ceiling you're banging against.
What's up?
It's actually very simple.
You have two conversations going on inside – Your conscious desires and goals, And your unconscious decisions.
AKA your BLOCKS.
When push comes to shove, your unconscious mind is the gorilla.
It wins, every time.
And it creates the results that you have in your life.
What exactly are you waiting for?
If you are stuck and settling, what are you modeling for your kids?
What lessons will they take away today, while you're waiting to get it right?
How much longer do you want to model stuck-and-settling?
What do you wish for the world, and how will you model THAT?
Next - what's the impact on your health, when you live with the stress
of never being able to quite make your core desire happen?
When your health suffers,
and you get stressed, sick, tired, and cranky,
what is the effect on your relationships?
When your relationships tank,
how much less effective are you in your work?
What is the true cost of waiting for some better time?
So let me share with you a bit of my story…
When I said yes to Mary Kay… It was far from the right time to say
YES..but it was the smartest decision I ever made for so many reasons. See more at www.ourpinkstudio.com

Ingredients and Safety At-A-Glance
Busting a Few Beauty Myths

When it comes to cosmetic ingredients and safety, you can’t believe everything you
read these days. Chances are you’ve probably seen a “beauty-gone-bad” story about the
evils of lipstick or mineral oil on television, the internet, or in magazines. So how can
you separate truth from fiction, and feel good about looking good? Here are a few facts
to set the record straight, and to help you feel great about the Mary Kay® products you
use and purchase.

Myth: Lead in lipstick can be the kiss of death!
Fact: Lead is a naturally occurring material and there are small amounts of lead in the
air we breathe and in the water we drink every day; these naturally occurring levels
cause us no harm. It’s a fact that lipsticks, along with many consumer products,
naturally contain very small trace amounts of lead, but the experts agree that the
amounts are insignificant and absolutely safe. The levels are well below the daily safe
limits established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Environmental
Protection Agency.

Myth: TALC is a bad word!
Fact: Talc has been getting a lot of bad press lately because of the recent popularity of
mineral-based powders. Talc used in cosmetics is a specially-refined grade and has a
proven scientific record. While it’s true that this natural ingredient can be used for noncosmetic purposes, rest assured that the grade of talc used in cosmetics is perfectly safe
for consumers.

Myth: If it says natural or organic, it’s BETTER (naturally!).
Fact: Organic, natural, and botanical are buzzwords in the beauty industry right now.
Sometimes the benefits associated with these products and ingredients are greatly
exaggerated. There is no scientific data that supports the blanket statement that
natural, organic, or botanical ingredients are always better. At Mary Kay, our goal is to
develop the safest and most effective products possible, including organic, natural, or
botanical ingredients when they provide a benefit. In fact, most Mary Kay® color and
skin care products contain a number of key natural and botanical ingredients that
research has proven to be effective.

Myth: Why do some people claim that paraben-free cosmetics are better?
Fact: First of all, the word parabens just sounds scary, doesn’t it? The fact is, a world
without parabens would be very scary indeed! Parabens are used extensively in
cosmetics, foods, and even medicines because they function as preservatives and
protect products from microbiological contamination. Paraben safety has been studied
extensively by various governmental regulatory agencies around the world, and none of
those agencies has found any scientific data that support the rumors that parabens are
harmful to human health.

THESE ARE JUST A FEW MYTH BUSTERS I thought were worthy of a share - I like to keep skin care simple and that is the purpose of this blog. Enjoy!

9 Aphrodisiacs to Heat Up Your Love Life

By Joe Wilkes
Named for Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love, aphrodisiacs have been the stuff of legend and song throughout history. Lovers looking for a leg up in the libido department have gone to their shamans, medicine men, and herbalists for centuries, searching for themagic ingredient that will kick their mojo into high gear. And today the search has gone to the Internet. Anyone with a lackluster spam filter has probably scanned the hundreds of emails that arrive every day, advertising powdered rhinoceros horn or some unpronounceable chemical that promises to goose your or your partner's desires. The efficacy of these miracle products is extremely dubious (and, in the case of the exotic animal parts, illegal), but there are plenty of products that you can find right in your grocery store or farmers' market that can potentially increase the heat between the sheets. Here are some common foods and why they might be able to put a little extra oomph into that special evening. And over half of them are in the top two tiers of Michi's Ladder, so you can have your cake and eat it, too! (Well, not cake, but asparagus and bananas!)
Couple, Heart, and Romantic Outing
  1. OysterOysters. These are perhaps the classic aphrodisiacs of all time. The legendary lover Casanova reportedly consumed 50 oysters every day to keep his . . . um . . . stamina up. But until recently the powers of these bivalves were only backed up by anecdotal evidence and the testimonials of mollusk-loving Lotharios. Recently though, studies have shown that oysters and their shellfish brethren, including clams, scallops, and mussels, all contain chemical compounds that may aid the release of testosterone, estrogen, and other sex hormones in both men and women. Oysters are also full of zinc, a deficiency of which can cause impotence in men, another reason they can be man's best friend in the bedroom. And then of course there's the conventional wisdom that if you'll eat an oyster, you'll eat anything.
  2. Chocolate. What's more associated with Valentine's Day than chocolate? The ancient Aztecs considered chocolate to be an aphrodisiac for both men and women, and when the Europeans got wind of its inhibition-lowering properties, it wasn't long before the candy treat became a must-have when pitching woo. Casanova and famed Louis XV courtesan Madame du Barry were reported to be great believers in the powers of chocolate, and there may have been something to it. Chocolate contains the chemicals phenylethylamine and serotonin, which are also naturally occurring chemicals in the brain, usually released when we are happy or in love. Its chemicals can literally cause your heart to beat a little faster. Add to that a boost of caffeine and sugar, and it can be a pretty good pick-me-up with a small side of euphoria.
  3. FigsFigs. Maybe it wasn't just the apple in the Garden of Eden that got things going. Remember, Adam and Eve ended up covering themselves in fig leaves. And it was also the favorite fruit of Cleopatra, who was certainly no slouch in the ways of love. In ancient Greece, fertility rituals would often follow the first fig harvest, and Greek portrayals of bacchanalia usually also included some fig action. In some European countries, figs are thrown instead of rice at newly married couples (ouch!) as symbols of fertility.
  4. Bananas. In the Islamic version of the tale, Adam and Eve covered themselves with banana leaves rather than fig leaves. Bananas are also considered a fertility symbol by the Hindus. Bananas can really get you going with their high levels of potassium and B vitamins, which aid the production of hormones. Bananas also contain the protease bromelain, which is believed to help circulation.
  5. AsparagusAsparagus. It is rich in vitamin E, which is critical to the production of hormones. It also contains a lot of folic acid, which the body needs to produce histamines. And histamines are the chemical compounds that cause muscle contractions. A word of caution though—too much asparagus can cause flatulence, which might make the whole romantic plan backfire (no pun intended).
  6. Avocados. The Aztecs referred to the avocado tree as Ahuacuatl or "testicle tree." Apparently, the fruit usually hangs in pairs. There appears to be little besides anecdotal evidence to support its claim as an aphrodisiac, though it is rich in many nutrients, including vitamins B6, C, and E. The California Avocado Commission conducted a Valentine's Day survey in 2000 of experts, 63 percent of whom concluded that the avocado does have some aphrodisiac qualities, some of which could be attributed to recently discovered phytochemicals.
  7. CaviarCaviar. This fish-egg delicacy has been enjoyed by lovers for centuries, including, of course, Casanova (which increasingly leads me to believe a lot of women were just sleeping with him to get to the buffet). Caviar is known for its silky texture. Naturally, eggs are common fertility symbols, but there may also be some chemical reasons for which they are rated so highly on the love-maker's diet. Like oysters, they are high in zinc and rich in vitamins A and D and omega-3 fatty acids. They also are high in arginine, an amino acid which acts as a vasodilator, widening blood vessels and increasing blood flow.
  8. Truffles. Not the chocolate kind (although those count under the "chocolate" category) but the expensive underground mushroom kind that pigs and dogs root out of the ground. Unlike other foods, it is the musky scent of the truffle that is believed to be what gets us going. Scientists have recently discovered that black truffles contain the pheromone androstenol. There is some debate over how much human beings are affected by pheromones, but truffles have been considered to be aphrodisiacs for centuries, and this recent discovery could be one explanation.
  9. ChampagneChampagne. When we think of romantic beverages, the list pretty much begins and ends with champagne. Most of the effects of champagne seem to be largely psychological, though. The purchase of an expensive beverage may set the mood for a special evening, and a mystique has been built in the media about the drink and its drinkers, from Marie Antoinette to Marilyn Monroe. But scientifically speaking, its amorous effects seem to come from the same place as most alcoholic beverages. Alcohol appears to have no positive effect on sexual function and, when overindulging, will usually move you in the other direction. It does, however, lead to a loss of inhibition and a decrease in judgment—in other words, a prelude to a kiss.

Weight management for cancer patients

Weight Management for Cancer PatientsWeight management can be very difficult for cancer patients. Cancer treatment, whether it is surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination of all three can have detrimental side effects which leave it hard for patients to maintain a healthy weight. Treatment has the ability to cause a significant weight loss or weight gain. This is closely tied to the type of treatment being received.Fatigue is very common symptom of cancer treatments. This often causes weight gain because patients simply do not have the motivation to exercise or make healthy meals for themselves. To combat exhaustion is it important to make sure to get enough sleep every night. It is also helpful to eat a diet which is high in iron. Although at first exercise might seem like a way to make patients more exhausted it actually helps give patients more energy in the long run. Physical activity allows the body to rest better and increases appetite and energy levels. Nausea and vomiting are also side effects common for cancer patients. This can happen right after treatment or a few days later. To fight nausea many patients will take medicine specially made for reducing this side effect. If that is not possible there are other ways to reduce nausea. Smaller, less fatty meals at room temperature are better to eat instead of big meals that contain a lot of grease which are very hot or cold. Weight gain can be caused by a lack of activity, different medicines, depression, and an emphasis on eating. Weight loss can be caused by nausea, different medicines, and depression as well. In order to properly manage weight it is good to try to lessen these side effects. A natural way to do that is through physical activity. Exercise can give cancer the motivation to push through the side effects of cancer treatment. After someone is on a consistent exercise routine they will have more restful sleep and a more energetic day. Being more active throughout the day will help manage weight. People who exercise tend to monitor what they eat and pick healthier options. Exercise speeds up a person metabolism and defines muscle. Cancer treatment can often lower muscle and bone density so it is important to exercise to counteract these side effects. Exercise allows cancer patients the ability to stay in a healthy weight bracket throughout treatment while lessening cancer treatment symptoms. These benefits will occur for cancer treatments whether they are going through surgery for breast cancer or chemotherapy for mesothelioma cancer.

RE: Resolution failures explained

A resolution is appropriate at any time of year. Today is as good a day as any.
The reason so many New Year's Resolutions fail is that they are usually made due to the external expectation of making them on the new year. As though it were a required ritual of the day, part of the ceremony of the holidays like hanging tinsel on the Christmas tree.
To be successful a resolution needs to be internal. And while New Years is a good a day to make one, making one just because its New Years is not. In fact, the tradition may over time have actually hindered people success.
Why? Because according to some experts only 8% of New Year's Resolutions are achieved. (I have no idea how they calculate that, but it rings true somehow.)
The result is that we have as a society developed a "Failure Syndrome" around the topic of New Year's resolutions. We expect to fail and sure enough, we do.
Why not find one thing that you can successfully change.  Maybe one simple choice that leads to a better change for you starting with your health, your mind, your body, your wallet or something simple that is do able. Taking the stairs instead of an elevator. Keeping it simple and achieving your resolution leads to a winning state of mind.  When you make that positive shift, your expectations begin to change. You are what you think so good or bad your brought it into fruition by the thoughts you are experiencing.  We cannot change bad things that happen to us but we can change how we see them.

Here is to wishing you a happy, prosperous 2013.

Suffering one of two pains

"We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons." ~ Jim Rohn..
5 short months ago I experienced the regret of not taking better care of my body, as I approached my 50's, my clothing size keep growing. I was a size 4 in my younger days but health issues and a comfortable lifestyle just started packing on the pounds. It was so painful to look in a mirror or at a photograph.  I finally just grew comfortable with the 'new me'.  My son would place his arms around my waist and I would instantly squirm knowing that his warm, affectionate, hug just made me call to conscious how much larger my waist had become.
These days I sometimes experience the pain of discipline with sore muscles, not eating poor food choices that seemed so yummy at the time, making the time to exercise and boy has it been worth it ~ Jim Rohn you are so right..Take charge of your life, today!
When my son hugs me now ~ I embrace it, lovingly with such a feeling of joy, for making the decision to eat consciously and exercise everyday has help me to chisel over 33 pounds and 25 inches off my 5'4" frame.
I heard someone say last night that people assume those of us who make better food choices are deprived...'Deprived?' she replied "does this body look deprived?, actually you are the one who is depriving yourself out of more energy, a longer life and less disease.  What a brilliant response - it is so simple to eat healthy.  When your body is filled with nutritionally dense food cravings disappear almost overnight.  Aches and pains are minimized.  Your energy is raised to a level many have not seen in years.
Ah, the pleasure of living a disciplined life far outweighs the pain of regret.
